Information for Incoming Students

West Virginia University is a truly international university. With students from over 100 different countries, representing all of our fields of study, we strive to engage all student to be truly global citizens.

Housing

Office of International Programs (OIP) encourages all exchange students to live on our downtown campus as this is where the majority of your course work will be and its closer to the main street in downtown Morgantown, several of the student body activities take place on the downtown campus.

Students that are required to live in WVU on-campus housing facilities follow the link below to decide which location is best for you.  Both Arnold Hall/Apartments and the International House are typical college dorm living.  However, if you are 25+ you will need to complete the online application for the International House as your 1st choice and Vandalia Hall as your 2nd choice.
Students that are not required to live in WVU on-campus facilities, I would encourage you to look at the WVU operated apartment facilities as opposed to private off-campus facilities.

Dining & Meals

Dining Halls are located in many of WVU's dormitories and your meal plan will work at all of these.  If you are staying in either Arnold Hall or International House, then you are automatically enrolled in the meal plan, and it is automatically applied to your student account.  For more information on Dining & Meals, please click here.

International Student Health Insurance

All students at West Virginia University are required to have health insurance. WVU's preferred provider is AETNA Student Health.  If you do not have AETNA student health, then you must complete a waiver; more information can be found here.

NOTE: Your waiver will not be accepted unless your insurance has the same coverage as the AETNA Student Health policy.
